Check out Pinterest for some arrangement inspiration.
A great place to start for some style inspiration is Pinterest. Think about your guests, their tastes, how many ingredients you’ll need and where the platter will sit.
-
Choose your platter
A platter can be as simple as a rustic wooden board, or go all out for a tiered option. For a large crowd, tiers can be made with cheese wheels.
-
Choose only the best quality ripe cheeses
Choose a variety of fresh local cheeses and be sure to cater to all tastes, including soft, hard, cows milk, goats milk and blue varieties.
-
Choose meats
Choosing meats to compliment a cheeseboard is optional. We suggest prosciutto, salami and pepperoni and offer some of Australia’s finest smallgoods, along side some hard-to-find international cured meats. Again, check out Pinterest for styling ideas, and consider rolling meats to make grazing easier and the most presentable.
-
Choose Breads and crackers
There are myriad options for breads, crackers and gluten free biscuits to choose from. If the cheese platter is secondary to a meal, choose lighter cracker options, or, for a more filling feast, choose seeded breads and crusty sourdough rolls from your local artisan bakery.
-
Choose dips, garnishes and antipasto
The finishing touch to any epic cheese plate is the garnish. To balance the salty cheese and crackers, we suggest choosing a quality muscatel grape, either fresh or sultana. Also offering a quince paste and basil cashew dips offer some sweet and green variety. Other dried and fresh fruits such as berries and pear can also add variety and balance the platter. Pairings are important! A sweet dip to pair with a sharp cheddar is always a winner.
